1. Lack of symptoms in early stages: Most people with thyroid cancer do not experience any symptoms in the beginning.
2. Symptoms in advanced stages: Some individuals may only feel discomfort in the front of the neck or a sensation of pressure. However, as the cancer progresses, it can affect the recurrent laryngeal nerve, leading to hoarseness of voice.
If the cancer invades the esophagus, it can cause compression and if it invades the trachea, it can result in coughing up blood or compression of the airway.
3. Self-examination: Regularly check for any nodules or growths in the middle or sides of the neck. Seek medical attention if nodules are detected, or if a feeling of pressure or foreign body sensation is present.
