In the workplace, we spend the most time with our colleagues, so it is common for various things to happen among colleagues. When a colleague asks you about these 5 things, even if you know the answers, you should never speak the truth; otherwise, it would be foolish.
【1】Salary matters. Regardless of whether your salary is high or low, and no matter how much you know about salary, you should not have your own attitude or casually disclose what you know.
Everyone understands that salaries are usually kept confidential in any organization. Giving a random opinion or revealing what you know will lead to a disastrous outcome.
【2】Promotion and demotion matters. These are very sensitive issues in any workplace. Even if you have some small pieces of information or accurate information from a leader, you should not openly show your stance.
It doesn't matter how much effort your colleague puts into asking you, or how much they promise not to disclose the information. You should not be moved to casually talk about such matters. In reality, this is leaking information. If the information turns out to be untrue, you would be spreading rumors, which has a significant impact in the workplace.
【3】Relationship matters. This is also a sensitive issue in an organization. When it comes to relationships between colleagues or between a leader and a subordinate, everyone wants to know what's going on. This is not only sensitive but also represents your opinion and judgment. No matter how much someone asks you, you should keep it to yourself. Some things are better understood by yourself, and many relationships are better left unknown.
You must never reveal them.
【4】Travel plans. Perhaps your position is unique, or maybe you are closer to the leader. But whenever it involves the leader's travel plans or anything related to colleagues, no matter who asks you, treat it as the highest level of confidentiality. To be honest, if you are really aware of these things, it means you have a significant position in the organization and are trusted by the leader.
If you casually reveal these things when asked, it signifies a lack of professionalism. You will not have a good outcome.
【5】Recommendation matters. We know that in order to get promoted by a leader, you need someone to recommend or endorse you, including recommendations from colleagues. This involves many factors and plays a decisive role in the progress of many things.
So when a colleague asks you about these matters, everyone should keep quiet and not create unnecessary trouble for themselves. Sometimes, in order to enjoy a moment of gossip, we end up saying things we shouldn't, revealing information that should not be disclosed. This only proves one thing: your relationship with the person you are recommending is not normal, or there is some kind of exchange of interests.
Regardless of whether such matters exist, it cannot prevent the leader from doubting you and others.
