Miss Benny, a guest star on Netflix's comedy series Fuller House, recently shared her experience filming on the show and hinted at encountering homophobic behavior from one cast member, believed to be Candace Cameron Bure. Miss Benny's TikTok video suggested that this cast member tried to have her character removed and expressed discomfort with having a queer character on the show. Bure, in response, denied these allegations, stating that she never asked for Miss Benny's character to be removed and that Fuller House has always welcomed diverse characters. The controversy highlights the challenges faced by queer individuals in advocating for themselves against targeted negativity.

In two episodes of Fuller House's fourth season, Miss Benny portrayed Casey, a friend of Kimmy's daughter, Ramona. In a recent TikTok video, Miss Benny addressed allegations of experiencing homophobic behavior behind the scenes, strongly indicating Candace Cameron Bure as the cast member involved. Although Miss Benny did not explicitly mention Bure's name, she used the hashtag "#candacebure" in the video description.

According to Miss Benny, she was warned by the writers and studio about the cast member who allegedly attempted to have her character removed and opposed having a queer character on the show.

Additionally, she mentioned that this person's fan base may have been encouraged to target her specifically. Despite working on the show for two weeks, Miss Benny claimed to have had only one conversation with one of the Tanner sisters, implying a strained relationship with Bure.

Miss Benny clarified that she enjoyed working with the other actors on the show who were receptive to her presence, and ultimately, her role on Fuller House led to an opportunity on the Netflix series Glamorous. She expressed her frustration at the targeting of queer individuals, particularly young adults and children, who often have to advocate for themselves against adults.

The allegations gain significance as they align with a previous controversy surrounding Bure. In 2022, Bure faced criticism for stating that GAC's movies would focus on "traditional marriages," suggesting a lack of interest in representing queer stories.

Candace Cameron Bure responded to Miss Benny's TikTok video with a statement denying any attempt to have Miss Benny's character removed. Bure clarified that she had no scenes with Miss Benny and, therefore, did not have much interaction on set. She appreciated Miss Benny's performance as Casey and wished her the best.

The incident sheds light on the challenges faced by queer individuals who continue to encounter targeting and discrimination, necessitating their ongoing advocacy for acceptance and representation.
