The showrunner of Bridgerton Season 3 has reassured fans that Anthony and Kate will not face any major conflicts in the upcoming episodes. After captivating viewers with their complicated but passionate love story in Season 2, the focus will shift to Penelope and Colin's romance at the start of Season 3. However, Anthony and Kate will still play important roles as the Viscount and Viscountess.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, showrunner Jess Brownell revealed that Season 3 will explore Anthony and Kate's new dynamic as a married couple.
Brownell confirmed that there will be no major conflicts introduced for the couple, as they have already overcome numerous obstacles in the previous season. Instead, the audience will get to see a more playful and loving side of their relationship."It was really thrilling to have Simone and Johnny back and getting to see what Anthony and Kate's married life looks like. With them, we're not really interested in introducing any big new conflicts into their relationship.
We feel like they've been through the hard stuff, and we want viewers to get to see them in a more playful, lovey space," Brownell stated.
As for Anthony and Kate's roles in Season 3, the eldest Bridgerton child will likely have a larger presence as he continues to assist with the family's affairs. After their father's passing, Anthony has taken on more responsibilities as the eldest male in the family.
He may also serve as a mentor to his younger brother, Colin, who is navigating his own complex romantic life.
In a similar vein, Kate, who has already established herself as a nurturing presence and mentor in her relationship with her younger sister Edwina, may develop similar relationships with the younger Bridgerton girls as they prepare to enter the social scene. Anthony and Kate's experiences in Season 2 and their own tumultuous lives will provide them with plenty of wisdom to pass on to the next generation as they enjoy their happy ending.
One lingering question for Season 3 is whether Anthony and Kate will have children. In Season 2, viewers caught glimpses of Daphne and Simon's children, hinting at the possibility of a growing Bridgerton clan. The series may take its time exploring Anthony and Kate's transition into parenthood, but their eventual journey to becoming parents could be a storyline in future seasons. With the assurance that Anthony and Kate will not face major conflicts, fans can find solace in the fact that their favorite couple's biggest trials are now behind them.
Season 3 promises to deliver a more playful and love-filled depiction of their married life, adding another layer of excitement to the beloved world of Bridgerton.
