How to Get Rid of Phlegm That Cannot be Coughed Up?

 1. Diet adjustment: Opt for a light diet and consume more vegetables and fruits rich in vitamins. Avoid spicy, fried foods, and reduce salt and sugar intake. 

2. Increase water intake: To dissolve phlegm effectively, drink more water. Diluting the phlegm makes it less sticky and easier to cough out.

3. Effective coughing technique: Sit down with both feet on the ground, take deep breaths, hold your breath and exhale forcefully. Inhale deeply for five seconds, then initiate short and forceful coughs with a contracted chest. Open your mouth, and the phlegm will be expelled. 

4. Change positions: When phlegm cannot be coughed up, changing positions can help.

For example, switch from lying down to sitting up and slightly leaning forward. Changing positions loosens the phlegm, making it easier to cough out.

 5. Back tapping: Gently tap the back to facilitate phlegm expulsion. Use a hollow shape with your fingers and tap the back with wrist movements. Avoid excessive force and tapping.

6. Eat pears: Pears can help dissolve phlegm. Cook them with water and consume as soup to alleviate phlegm.
